The “Silbonit” kits, for ventilated external wall claddings, are composed by fibre-cement flat sheets produced by Societá Italiana Lastre, S.p.A. The flat sheets are mechanically fixed, by screw or rivets, to a subframe of wood, galvanized steel or aluminium.

“Silbonit” kits are classified as family A according to the EAD 090062-00-0404: Kits for external wall claddings mechanically fixed. They are non-load-bearing construction elements. They do not contribute to the stability of the structure on which are installed, neither to ensure the airtightness of the building structure, but they can contribute to durability of the works by providing enhanced protection from the effect of weathering.

The subframe is fixed to the external wall of new or existing buildings (retrofit). An insulation layer is usually set on the external wall.
